TCL has marked its 45th anniversary with the inauguration of the TCL Industrial Museum in Huizhou, China, where the company was founded in 1981. Built on the former factory site of its predecessor, TTK, the museum traces TCL’s development alongside China’s electronics industry. It covers more than 23,000 square meters, including over 9,000 square meters of exhibition space, and features more than 3,000 items across six exhibition halls and a central atrium. Among its exhibits are a 1920s Nipkow mechanical scanning disk, China’s first television set, the country’s first commercial computer, and a printed OLED 4K display developed by TCL CSOT in 2024. The television gallery also features more than 100 vintage television sets from around the world.
The museum also documents TCL’s business transformation and expansion into display technology and clean energy. In 2019, the company restructured its operations into two independently operated entities: TCL Technology, which focuses on display and new energy businesses, and TCL Industries, which specializes in smart devices and services. From 2019 to 2025, TCL Technology’s revenue grew from approximately US$8.4 billion to US$27 billion, while TCL Industries’ revenue increased from US$11.7 billion to around US$24.9 billion. TCL TV ranked second globally in television shipments in 2025, while TCL CSOT ranked second in global TV panel market share, according to Omdia. TCL Zhonghuan is also a major producer of solar-grade silicon crystals and supplier of silicon wafers. In 2026, TCL was named one of TIME’s World’s Best Companies.
Looking ahead, TCL plans to continue investing in technology, sustainable growth and global brand development. As a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, the company uses the sporting events to connect consumers with its technology. It also runs initiatives such as TCLArt, TCLforHer, TCLGreen and TCLYoung, which focus on culture, social engagement and sustainability. TCL Founder and Chairman Li Dongsheng said the museum aims to preserve the company’s history while inspiring future innovation. The company said it will continue developing its technology and expanding its global presence while strengthening its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.
