PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has teamed up with JoyRide, the first and only homegrown superapp in the Philippines, as the demand for mobile and data services continues to increase amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Customers nationwide can now purchase Smart load hassle-free via the JoyRide Superapp. On the other hand, customers in Metro Manila can also purchase SIMs, prepaid load cards, and Smart Bro devices through JR Mall, by downloading the JoyRide Superapp via onelink.to/letsjoyride. This is made possible through the support of Smart’s retail partner, Remitbox.
In a virtual ceremony, JoyRide President Sherwin Yu welcomed Smart and Remitbox in their community of partners.
“We are excited to bring the excellent products of Smart to thousands of our Kasundo drivers, partners, and millions of app users. We believe Smart offers invaluable tools that can help our customers and partners to connect to one another, and contribute to the growth of our economy,” said Yu.
“Our partnership with JoyRide and Remitbox allows us to reach more customers and provide them with prepaid load and devices that would help them connect to the country’s fastest LTE and 5G network and empower them to pursue their passion and purpose through technology,” said Precy P. Katigbak, FVP and Head of National Key Accounts at PLDT and Smart.
Remitbox Chairman and CEO Mark Yu said that this partnership allows the companies to provide timely services to Filipinos. “This is an opportunity for us to showcase our world-class platform to serve the needs of customers via the fastest growing homegrown superapp JoyRide, with Smart as the backbone of it all.”
Serving Filipinos nationwide
The wide availability of Smart’s products and services complements its nationwide network coverage. More than 4,500 LTE base stations have been deployed in the first half of 2021 alone. Smart currently serves the most number of data users in the Philippines at 39.5 million.
Smart has also been cited as the fastest 5G network in the Philippines as reported by Ookla®, the global leader in internet testing and analysis. Smart also recently reaffirmed its dominance as the country’s fastest mobile network for the fourth year in a row, based on analysis by Ookla of tests taken with Speedtest® covering the Q1-Q2 2021.
Supporting Smart’s mobile network is PLDT’s extensive fiber infrastructure, now at over 524,000 kilometers nationwide as of end-June 2021.
PLDT and Smart’s initiatives to provide connectivity for all is aligned with their commitment to help the Philippines attain the UN Sustainable Development Goal #9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. For more information, visit the www.smart.com.ph.
