SKY On-Demand allows subscribers to catch up on episodes of local and foreign cable TV shows on their big screen TV at home. No need to rely on their PCs and mobile devices. Here’s what you need to know about SKY’s video-on-demand service:
- The service runs on SKY On-Demand digibox that rides on SKYcable and SKYBroadband subscriptions to use video streaming site, iWant TV.
- SKYCable subscribers can avail of this service by ugprading their current SD or HD digibox to the new SKY On-Demand digibox for a one-time free of as low as P499 depending on their cable TV subscription plan.
- The number of available shows and channels for streaming depends on a subscriber’s current cable TV plan.
- The service brings video playback functionality and playlist creation to TV screens.
- The SKY On-Demand digibox and video-on-demand service will be available March 2015.
- New SKYcable subscribers can soon avail of this service for as low as P2,199 installation fee.
- Although SKY On-Demand can be accessed via other wired home Internet providers, SKY recommends it SKYbroadband Internet service. This is because SKYbroadband subcribers can also enjoy premium access to special foreign and local movie titles from Paramount Pictures, NBC-Universal, Star Cinema, Regal Films, and Viva Films.
- Videos cannot be downloaded, only streamed.
Subscribers will be able to stream shows like House of Cards, Master Chef, Restaurant Impossible, Pawn Stars, Bondi Vet, Scorpion, Extant, Red Band Society, Ben 10, Dora, Adventure Time, Chowder, TV Patrol, ASAP, Forevermore, Two Wives, and a more form channels like RTL-CBS, History, Asian Food Channel, Food Network Asia, E!, Lifetime, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, ANC, and ABS-CBN. More shows will be added soon, such as Asia’s Got Talent, The Amazing Race, The Voice, Madam Secretary, How to Get Away with Murder, Jane the Virgin. More channels will be available, including AXN, Disnet, Disney Jr., and Sony TV.
