PLDT and Smart network also stayed resilient in North Luzon amid impacts of ‘Paeng’ due to its strength. Restoration of fixed and wireless in Bulacan has been partially completed.
The Group is currently conducting simultaneous restoration efforts in Metro Manila, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. There is also an ongoing network assessment in areas experiencing service disruptions as a result of commercial power failure because of ‘Paeng’.
“PLDT and Smart are working double time to ensure our network can continue to be of service in times of disasters, all thanks to our operations and network teams. Aside from this, we will begin distributing relief aid to severely affected areas, made possible by our volunteers. We have also opened more free calls and charging stations as part of our efforts on communication as aid,” said Cathy Yang, First Vice President and Group Head of Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.
Affected communities in Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Quezon, Marinduque, Capiz, Antique, Aklan, Maguindanao del Norte, and Zamboanga City will receive relief assistance in the coming days.
Additional Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations were opened in Aurora and Marinduque to help residents connect with their families and loved ones.
Part of PLDT and Smart’s commitment to nation building includes providing not only a fast and stable connectivity, but also a resilient network that can withstand disasters and be there for the Filipino community, leaving no one behind.
