As the deadline for SIM registration in the Philippines looms, PLDT Global Corporation is encouraging overseas Filipinos, specifically those with Smart Virtual Numbers (SVNs), to register their Smart mobile numbers now and avoid the deactivation of services. PLDT Global is the international sales and marketing arm of the country’s leading digital services provider PLDT Inc.
A unique Smart Virtual Number is assigned to the user upon successful account creation on the TINBO (Tindahan ni Bossing) platform. TINBO, the one-stop gateway for digital services powered by PLDT Global, enables global Filipinos to care for their families back home by providing access to services for connectivity, bills payment, digital banking needs via Maya, and other partners.
Information on how to register will appear on the platform or via the SVN inbox. After clicking on the link, the customer should download and fill out the registration form with the correct information. Once done, customers need to email the completed form along with a clear photo of one (1) valid Philippine ID and a selfie to tinbosimregistration@smart.com.ph. Once validated, customers will receive a confirmation message in their SVN inbox that their SVNs have been registered.
“This is part of our broad range of initiatives to make the SIM Registration experience easier and more convenient for Filipinos, especially for our TINBO global customers. We are one with the Philippine government in safeguarding our subscribers against malicious activities of scammers using unregistered SIM cards,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO at PLDT Global.
TINBO customers can access the mobile number registration forms at tinbo.ph, while local and roaming Smart Prepaid and TNT customers can register their SIM at http://www.smart.com.ph/simreg or via the GigaLife App. Smart Bro subscribers can proceed with SIM Registration by accessing their one-time password at http://www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms.
Meanwhile, Smart postpaid customers are considered registered using existing account details, in accordance with the SIM registration act. Existing Smart Postpaid subscribers may call *888 or *800 for Infinity if they wish to exclude their number from the SIM Registration database or update their account information. All SIM users are required to register their SIMs, according to Republic Act No. 11934 or the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Act.
In the Philippines, Smart has made SIM registration simple, safe and rewarding by rolling out hundreds of assisted SIM Registration booths in malls, far-flung municipalities, and other key, high-traffic areas nationwide, in coordination with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), local government units (LGUs), inter-agency committees in remote areas, and other public telecommunications entities, to ensure that the SIM Registration campaign is accessible to more Smart and TNT customers.
