The Philippines is known for having harsh summers. The days are longer and warmer and we tend to sweat more. As a result, problems such as dehydration and heat stroke become rather common this season.
Water is very important for digestion and organ function and makes up 60% of a person’s body weight. Alarmingly, a mere 1 to 2% drop in water percentage can already cause dehydration.
While it is still important to get your fill of water, other forms of hydration can also help quench your thirst. Fruit juice, for example, can contribute to the prescribed amount of hydration one needs to have each day, while also being a refreshing and healthy break from water.
Vegetables and fruits are a good source of water as well. According to RJ, “Philips’ line of blenders and juicers are great partners in whipping yourselves organic and healthier thirst quenchers.”
Real is good
Beat the sweltering days of summer with a nice blend of cocktails. Reah Ronsayro, Business Development Manager for Philips Kitchen Appliances suggests choosing drinks wisely.
“Carbonated drinks and artificial juices can be high in sugar and caffeine, too much of which can be bad for the health. Natural fruit juices are a healthier and more delicious option.”
Watermelon has a water content of 91.5%. Additionally, it is also one of the richest sources of lycopene, an antioxidant that helps fight cancer.
For your next round of drinks, cut yourself a slice of it for a quick drink.

The Slow Juicer from Philips can get the best out of these fruits. Thanks to its slow juicing technology, it can extract all natural flavors from fruits while also limiting foam for better texture. Additionally, it is also very easy to use with its guiding tray and one single button operation.
Juice it up!
What is summer without enjoying a good old cup of fruit juice under a tree shade? Experts say everyone should get eight glasses (or more) of water every day to stay hydrated but you can also get your fill by turning into more flavorful options.
“Apples and oranges are 84% and 88% water, respectively,” says Reah. “In other ways, they are even better than water because they are also rich in vitamins.”

According to Reah, “A good drink should have a combination of rich flavor and smooth textures.” The Philips blender has an optimum blending power that gives fine and smooth results. Its Pulse setting also crushes ice perfectly while making sure the ingredients come well together.
Summer may ring in a lot of fun, but the season can also be challenging to our health with the harsh weather conditions that it brings with it. According to Reah, however, this is not an excuse to slack on our health.
“Consider and know your options. There are numerous ways that can help you enjoy this time of the year while keeping a close eye on your health.”
RJ adds to it by saying, “Healthy doesn’t always mean boring. It’s all about knowing how to inject excitement to your options while keeping your health a priority. So the next time you feel dehydrated, grab a tasty drink that will help you stay fit as well. ”
