Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), the concessionaire for Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), including its C5 Link segment, and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), successfully concluded the Drayberks B.I.S.A (Buhay Ingatan, Sasakya’y Alagaan) series of caravans in collaboration with Cavite State University (CvSU). The caravans were organized as part of the celebration of Road Safety Month in May and aim to educate drivers of the important aspects of road safety which are: self-safety, vehicle safety and roadworthiness, and safe driving.
These seminars were conducted at strategic locations including Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), SM City Bacoor, and SM City Santa Rosa, the initiative instilled knowledge to a diverse audience. Participants ranged from public and private drivers to traffic enforcers, mall-goers, and even college students. The seminars highlighted the critical aspects of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting, emphasizing their direct impact on road safety.
“By equipping individuals with essential skills and knowledge, MPT South remains dedicated to fostering a culture of responsible driving and ensuring safer roads for all. The success of the Drayberks B.I.S.A is a testament to our commitment to prioritizing the well-being of road users and the communities we serve,” said Mr. Raul L. Ignacio, president and general manager of MPT South.
The toll road company’s initiative in advocating road safety has received high praise from local government units and transport group ACTO (Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization). Their commendation acknowledges the company’s efforts not only in ensuring the safety of motorists on its road network but also in promoting a culture of safety within surrounding communities.
“As members of the transport sector, we face the daily vulnerability of road traffic accidents as we traverse the roads. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to MPT South for taking the initiative to prioritize road safety and instill its importance in the minds of every driver. This seminar proved invaluable in equipping our PUV drivers with the necessary knowledge and skills to remain vigilant, prepared, and prevent accidents that can save the lives of every passenger. We commend MPT South for their commitment to a safer transportation environment for all,” said Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization (ACTO) National President Liberty de Luna.
“The City Government of Bacoor expresses sincere gratitude to MPT South for its unwavering support to the Bacoorenos. From donation drives to tourism assistance and now this road safety awareness caravan, MPT South has consistently been a valuable partner in uplifting our community. This free seminar is instrumental in raising awareness among our Bacooreños motorists about the critical importance of maintaining their vehicles in optimal condition for ensuring safety on the roads. We stand united with MPT South in advocating for road safety and making our city a safer place for everyone,” said Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla.
“I would like to acknowledge MPT South for organizing this event in observance of Road Safety Month this May. Thank you for choosing the City of Santa Rosa as venue for your road safety caravan. Aptly called “Drayberks: Buhay Ingatan, Sasakya’y Alagaan (B.I.S.A.) Caravan”, this initiative attests to your company’s dedication to promoting road safety awareness. This resonates with our efforts in the City Government to have an efficient transportation system. And one way to achieve that is to emphasize the importance of safe driving for the well-being of both motorists and pedestrians. That is why we are more than happy, and I am sure that is also the case for SM City Santa Rosa, to partner with you on this endeavor for this means lives will be saved. We do hope that this collaboration between MPT South and the City Government of Santa Rosa will endure, allowing us to work hand in hand in creating a safer environment for our community. With that said, we look forward to more opportunities to work together so we can make a significant impact in raising awareness and fostering responsible road behavior. Congratulations, MPT South, on the success of this caravan. Maraming salamat. Mabuhay po kayo!” said Santa Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas.
Following its successful launch this Road Safety Month, MPT South plans to continue this year’s rollout of Drayberks B.I.S.A caravan in neighboring communities on its expressway networks and expand it to even more organizations and individuals.
Drayberks, an award-winning social advocacy of MPT South, is dedicated to educating motorists on road safety and empowering them to make the most of the expressway’s safety features. Since 2018, it has been actively engaged with key stakeholders and transport groups to share important reminders to motorists on safety behind wheels.
MPT South is a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the largest toll road developer and operator in the country. MPT South’s Drayberks road safety advocacy falls under the pillar of MPTC’s initiative ‘Mission: Road Safety,’ which focuses on conducting road safety awareness seminars and digital information campaigns to educate the general and motoring public, ensuring their safe journey along MPTC expressways in Luzon and Visayas—CAVITEX, C5 Link, CALAX, NLEX (North Luzon Expressway), NLEX Connector Road, SCTEX (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway), and CCLEX (Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway) in Cebu.
These initiatives are aligned with the United Nations General Assembly’s adopted resolution, “Improving Global Road Safety,” which sets an objective of reducing road traffic deaths and injuries by at least 50% before 2030.
