Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. donated essential medical supplies, equipment, and furniture worth P350,000 to two newly refurbished sub-health centers in Sitio Centro Pogpog and Lib-in, Barangay Sibulan, Municipality of Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur.
“Our health workers need sufficient supplies and reliable equipment to provide quality health services to patients and residents which include the Bagobo Tagabawa tribe living in Barangay Sibulan and nearby areas,” Hedcor President and COO Rolando Pacquiao said. “These donations will definitely aid the operations of the health facilities and be able to better respond to the health needs of the community.”
In 2021, Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation successfully implemented the repair of the sub-health centers. As a continuing project, the health centers received medicines, appliances like clinic beds, tables, and drawers, plus other medical equipment. These are expected to boost the communities’ health care services, making it more accessible, usable, and available, especially to the indigenous peoples in the province.
Santa Cruz Municipal Health Officer Dr. Raygene Manuel shared that the barangay health workers (BHW) feel blessed to receive Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation’s donations.
“We know that not all communities were given this kind of health assistance, and we are truly fortunate to receive these. I am proud to say that our BHWs are very dedicated and always ready to be of service,” she said.
Meanwhile, in the Province of Bukidnon, Hedcor turned over a completed covered pathway worth P250,000 to the Municipality of Impasugong’s Health Center as part of Hedcor and the local government unit’s belief of placing health as a priority.
The covered pathway is beneficial in a healthcare environment, as it serves as a linkway between the regional health unit’s building; providing staff, patients, and visitors protection from bad weather. Thirteen barangays in the Municipality of Impasugong have access to the Rural Health Unit services.
“This is a milestone being undertaken by the local government unit and Hedcor to ensure that the health services and the health needs of Impasugong are given utmost importance,” shared Municipal Mayor Anthony Uy.
To further improve the delivery of health services, barangay and municipal health workers in Bukidnon and Davao Del Sur will also receive refresher courses on how to respond to health emergency situations from the Department of Health and Municipal Health Office representatives.
“May these regenerative projects continue to strengthen our relationship with our community in pursuit of transforming energy for a better world,” Pacquiao underscored.
Hedcor is a renewable energy subsidiary of AboitizPower.
