Here’s a wearable you won’t throw away in three months. The Huawei TalkBand B2 is a water-resistant Bluetooth earpiece and activity tracker in one, with three variants that’ll match your OOTD. It’s unobtrusive, and leaves most of the user-staring-at-screen to the paired-with iOS or Android phone. The removable earpiece alone is uber-practical, especially when you’re driving. And if ever you can’t find your phone, the TalkBand B2 can.
Unlike other wearables, the TalkBand B2 doesn’t look like a gadget on your wrist. It’s a wristband that’s barely there. This minimalism also excludes the TalkBand B2 from showing text and chat message notifications, a feature thought to be “standard” in a wearable. Huawei’s approach is different – they want you to keep wearing the TalkBand B2.
Some users get tired of reading their messages on their wearables, and then pulling out their phones to respond, and end up using their wearables, months later, as just watches, or else into the drawer they go (for long term safe-keeping).
Even if you don’t want to get into shape, the Huawei TalkBand B2’s sleep tracker tells you if you’ve been getting enough deep, as opposed to light sleep – because a productive brain needs deep sleep. The Bluetooth earpiece pops out of the wrist cradle easily, so you can take calls even while driving – that and its phone finder feature are immensely practical. The longer you wear the TalkBand B2, the more you’ll find its nudges to stop being idle worth listening to. And you’ll want to get in shape.
The Talkband B2’s 6-axis motion sensor knows when you’re idle – as when you’ve been siting on your desk for too long – and the B2 tells you to move around a bit. For people who live a semi-sedentary life in front of the computer, this is vital: a reminder to get off your behind and stretch and escalate the heart rate.
If paired with a Huawei phone, the TalkBand B2 can be used as a remote shutter. You can do the proper framing with a tripod, for example, and then get into position and use the TalkBand B2 to trigger the shot. (Above is the Honor 6.)
