Leading digital solutions platform Globe is encouraging Filipinos to join its nationwide search for “Kali ‘Kada” environmental advocates and help build One Sustainable Philippines.
“Kali ‘Kada,” short for “Kalikasan Barkada” or friends of nature, pushes for more eco-friendly practices to combat climate change. The climate crisis which manifests through rising temperatures and changing weather conditions that put lives, agriculture, health, water supply, and more ecosystems at risk is one of the world’s most urgent problems.
The campaign encourages Filipinos to post TikTok videos while playing the Globe Climate Champions mobile game and share why everyone should be part of the advocacy using the hashtags #KaliKada and #GlobeClimateChampions.
They can also share why they think they would be a perfect fit for the program in the video and caption. Deadline for entries is on October 20, with winners to be announced by October 28th.
Globe Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto explained how people must work together to mitigate the impact of climate change, as the world is already experiencing its effects.
“Collective action among individuals, businesses, and government is critical in the attainment of global climate ambitions. The practice of sustainability and thinking for the long term requires a conscious effort. It happens in progression. It’s not going to be overnight. So we all need to start today,” she said during the recent launch of Kali ‘Kada and the Globe Climate Champions mobile game.
Through the free Globe Climate Champions mobile game available on the GCash, KonsultaMD, and GlobeOne apps, people can learn more about becoming climate action advocates.
The Globe Kali Kada search will award 10 winners P30,000 worth of exciting Globe prizes. Winners will also be the faces of Globe Climate Champions for a two-month engagement, during which they’ll be helping educate the general public on tips to live more sustainably. Each of the Kali ‘Kada members that finish the two-month engagement will get an additional Php 40,000 worth of Globe prizes.
RG Orense, Globe Digital and Social Strategy Head, added, “The gamified experience uses digital technology for good. It provides an enhanced level of engagement while empowering Filipinos towards lasting transformation through simple daily activities. Through the mobile game, players are taught simple lifestyle choices that promote climate action and help inculcate sustainable practices, one gameplay at a time.”
The Philippines has committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 75% under its Nationally Determined Contributions. To achieve this, the citizenry could contribute to the reduction by living sustainably, primarily through responsible consumption.
Aside from rallying its customers to join the advocacy, Globe also ensures that sustainability is embedded in its operations as it works towards fulfilling its Net Zero commitment by 2050.
The telecommunications industry is a key enabler of industries, especially under the new digital economy. By going digital, it can potentially lessen resource consumption and improve operational efficiency, leading to a reduced carbon footprint.
“All of us can be advocates. We work towards our sustainability commitments, help our country and uplift the lives of our fellow Filipinos. We look forward to the day when our nation is admired for our innovation, social equity, and how we have cared for our environment and natural resources. I enjoin everyone to build One Sustainable Philippines,” Crisanto said.
