Globe topped the Netflix ISP Speed Index for August, again leading the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) performance rating of the popular streaming service for the seventh time this year.
The company scored 3.2 in the Index through its Globe At Home Broadband Business. It also ranked first in January, February, April, May, June, and July. Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, France, Greece, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Poland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Vietnam also registered the same score in the Netflix ISP Speed Index.
Netflix, the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, determines monthly rankings by calculating an ISP’s performance in primetime streaming sessions based on the maximum bitrate set by combining resolution, streaming device, and encode recipe. The better a network is, the closer a session will be to reaching this maximum possible bitrate.
The latest Netflix performance of Globe proves its consistency in providing stable connectivity to Filipino families as it continues to double efforts to achieve a #1stWorldNetwork in the country.
“Since most of the activities shifted to the home, we have observed an all-time high internet usage, especially on video. So more than ever, internet at home has become an indispensable service to many Filipinos. And as our customers adjust and cope with the new world, we are also doing our best to pivot and address their growing needs by continuously improving our network and providing them with the necessary products and services,” said Barbie Dapul, Vice President for Marketing of Globe At Home.
Improvements on fixed broadband in the country have been echoed by independent internet analytics firm OoklaⓇ. Based on OoklaⓇ Global Speedtest Index report for June 2021, the Philippines is now ranked 62nd in Fixed Broadband at 66.55 Mbps, three notches up compared to May.
Due to the increasing demand for connectivity, Globe has revised its capital expenditure allocation for 2021, from the initial P70 billion to an unprecedented P76 billion. The amount is mainly for network builds to include the target to lay down million fiber-to-the-home lines and deliver first-world internet connectivity.
