The Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced its search for candidates to join the 2020 Foreign Tourism Service Examinations (FTSE) to beef up its talent pool for its foreign offices. Interested applicants can either choose to be a Tourism Attaché or Foreign Tourism Officer depending on their qualifications.
Tourism Attaché applicants should have a Master’s degree or a Certificate in Leadership and Management from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and a Career Service Professional or Second (2nd) Level Eligibility. The applicant must also have at least 4 years of supervisory or management experience and at least forty hours of supervisory or management learning and development intervention.
Foreign Tourism Officer applicants, on the other hand, should have a relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance) and a Career Service Professional or Second (2nd) Level Eligibility. The applicant must also have at least 2 years of relevant experience and at least 8 hours of relevant training.
A Tourism Attaché is expected to supervise the overall operations and activities of the DOT Foreign Office and establish a network with Filipino and foreign tourist authorities, among others. While a Foreign Tourism Officer will take on administrative and financial tasks as well as provide marketing support to the Tourism Attaché, among others.
Qualified applicants will have to go through the 4-step examination process: (1) Paper Screening by the DOT-Human Resource Division (HRD) who makes sure that all documentary requirements are submitted. (2) Talent Screening and Profile Assessment Tests to gauge the candidate’s level of basic life and work skills and determine the candidate’s competencies fit the desired position.
In total, only the top 60 candidates will be able to proceed to the (3) One-Day Assessment, which will consist of a case presentation, group activity and competency-based interview. The last step of the examination is a (4) DOT Executive Committee Validation Interview.
Only applicants who score in the 72nd percentile or higher will be able to be part of the agency’s pool of talents who will have a chance to work in the foreign and local travel industries and help promote the DOT’s sustainable tourism advocacy. The DOT stresses that any applicant who passes the screening tests should
take the succeeding tests without a miss or risk failing the entire FTSE.
Interested applicants may download the application form from (shorturl.at/fmFG6) and submit their full applications to dot.overseasapplication@tourism.gov.ph on or before March 6, 2020. Applications must follow the subject format: SURNAME, FIRST NAME, POSITION APPLIED FOR (ex. DELA CRUZ, TOURISM ATTACHE).
