Helping out those in need doesn’t stop even when the academic year has already started, as Brother International Philippines Corporation (BICP) and Brother Industries Philippines, Inc. (BIPH) teamed up for a big Brigada Eskwela activity last June 26 to provide aid and assistance to the students of Bilog-Bilog Elementary School in Tanauan, Batangas.
In an event that combined BIPH’s yearly “Packs-to-School” and “Tsinelas Project” activities, 60 volunteers from both companies distributed school shoes and assorted school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, and crayons to 274 students, and conducted educational games for treats and prizes. Department of Education (DepEd) Tanauan, BICP, and BIPH officials also visited the school for a short program.
Packs-to-School is BIPH’s annual outreach activity which sees volunteers from the company give out bundles of school supplies to the students, while the Tsinelas Project also helps them and their families by providing free school shoes.
“We chose to help Bilog-Bilog Elementary School because of the circumstances of the students,” said Mr. Glenn Hocson, BICP President. “We are happy to have given them assistance, and we wish all the students good luck in this school year.”
This activity marked the second month in a row Brother Philippines held a Brigada Eskwela for a local elementary school this year, with the first one happening last May 25 at Iñigan Elementary School in Rodriguez, Rizal. The collaboration between BICP and BIPH for this event also resulted in Brother’s biggest Brigada Eskwela yet.
