MANILA, Philippines, December 1, 2022 – Leading global livestreaming platform Bigo Live today announced that it will be holding its annual BIGO Philippines Awards Gala 2022—held in person for the first time since last year’s inaugural virtual edition—on December 9, 2022, at 6-10pm at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Quezon City.
The event is a celebration of the hard work and commitment of Bigo Live’s most exceptional hosts, agencies, partners, and broadcasters, many of whom have become local celebrities. Hosted by Bigo Live’s very own celebrity broadcasters, including luminaries by the likes of Ian Red and Ann Raniel, the event will recognize and honor some of the country’s best talents and broadcasters who have captivated their audience with their creativity, while transforming their communities for the better by making the most of what Bigo Live has to offer. The star-studded event will see over twenty different categories awarded throughout the night including the most rapid growing agency of the year, the most popular new host of the year, and family of the year.
This year, Bigo Live Philippines has partnered the Philippines’ leading e-wallet app GCash, encapsulating the convergence between the digital and physical world. As part of their strategic partnership, Bigo Live Philippines and GCash will be working together to reward the local community with exciting prizes leading up to the BIGO Philippines Awards Gala 2022.
“We are incredibly excited to finally be able to organize our annual BIGO Philippines Awards Gala physically after holding our inaugural edition virtually last year. Over the past year, the Filipino community has astounded us with the sheer extent of the talent that they possess, making meaningful change in the community and leading the charge by shaping their communities in a way that’s inclusive, relevant, and empowering. Our Bigo Live Philippines community has truly exemplified the meaning of Filipino resilience as they have been a beacon of hope and happiness amidst a long and eventful year,” said Chancy Chen, Country Manager of Bigo Live Philippines.
Since its inception in 2016, Bigo Live has emerged as an international industry leader and key contributor to the global creator economy with more than 400 million users across 150 countries worldwide. Throughout the past year, Bigo Live has been enlarging its talent pool of broadcasters and content creators and expanding its localized premium content library with a focus on pan-entertainment offerings, social commerce, music, and gaming, via various cross industry partnerships and a series of localized in-market activities globally.
As part of its ongoing efforts to provide its users with an engaging and immersive livestreaming experience, the platform launched and introduced innovative functions in 2022. These include ‘Virtual Live’, a virtual and augmented reality-enabled feature that allows users to create personalized 3D avatars to represent themselves and communicate with others, and ‘Community’, a first-of-its-kind interactive feature allowing users to create, join and manage online communities and connect with other users with similar common interests.
