The local Android tablet scene may be quiet, but one brand has quietly been offering budget-friendly 7-inch Android tablets: Torque. Two of their latest devices are all under P2000.

Both of these are WiFi only and come with a free screen protector and a USB OTG cable, so you can plug in a USB flash drive and enjoy your media and access your files.

Torque Ego Tab S Full Specs

Android 4.4.2
7-inch TFT screen
Capacitive multi-touch screen
Single Core 1.0 GHz processor
512MB RAM + 8GB built-in memory, TF card slot
3MP rear camera
3.7V 2500 mAh Li-on battery
SRP 1699

Though both have nearly the same specs, the Ego Tab Q below (just add P200 more) gets you a slightly faster processor and a selfie camera. The plastic but solid build of both tablets is a good thing, as is the grip the covers’ surface texture provides. Now, don’t expect super bright and colorful displays or stunning viewing angles. The formula here is acceptable specs and experience for the price, and Torque seems to have nailed that.

The Tab S and Tab Q’s specs are not going to win benchmark awards, but don’t forget that the highlight here is accessibility – for half the price of budget Androids, Torque offers large 7-inch, ready-to-be-enjoyed tablets. If ever you lose your tablet and you need something to tide you over, the Ego Tab S and Q are not bad deals for their price points. Also, these make for great intro tablets for kids.

Buying them won’t be a pain. And you won’t lose sleep or pull your hair if you lose or break them. You should also check out Torque’s budget 7-inch dual SIM phablet, the Ego Phab 3G.
